spanish internet marketing I’ve been noticing a lot of articles lately popping up about the spanish speaking market and the potential of online marketing, especially in the video arena.  As we all know, spanish speaking populations comprise one of the fastest growing segments of the internet right now. 

Now, being fluent in spanish myself, this has always caught my attention.  This has allowed me to carve out a little niche for myself and start marketing to spanish speaking clients in order to help them run an effective online marketing campaign. 

To prove that this market has great potential, take a look at this recent article and study that was performed by emarketer:

According to a study conducted by eMarketer, 23 million Hispanics who live in the US (52% of the entire Latino population) are Internet users and their numbers will grow to almost 30 million by the year 2012. On the other hand there are over 125 million Spanish-speaking Internet users based in 21 countries in the Americas and Europe. At the same time the number of broadband access points in Latin America will reach 30 million in the next 4 years: if we add the Spanish-speaking broadband users residing in Latin America, the US and Spain, the number will exceed 60 million by the year 2012.

Now, this recent study goes on to mention the huge opportunity to do spanish videos and submit them to YouTube, for example.   When I was working at Yellow Pages, most of the sales reps didn’t know how to speak Spanish, so I was constantly called upon to explain internet marketing products such as our SEM products, videos, and Yellowpages.com programs.

If you are a small business owner and you are trying to tap into the spanish market, video might be a good place to start.  Also, there are several web companies out there that can build a website in both english and spanish.  This is also a very critical step to attracting more clients within the demographic.

Now, we also must think that most spanish speaker also know how to speak english right?  Well yes, but here’s where the importance of marketing in spanish online (websites, video, article marketing, blogging) comes in to play- “sense of community”, which ultimately leads to greater conversions.

Remember, internet marketing is all about conversions.  By connecting with your newly targeted spanish speaking audience in their language, you can make a huge impact on their opinions and perception of you and your business.
